ABOUT
PORTFOLIO

Ro is a jewelry collection I created while taking part in the M.A. Programme Sustainability in Fashion at the Esmod Berlin

The inspiration for the collection was to create a man-made nature on the body,

a plant that is growing on the skin, a plant that is forming a symbiosis with the

body, sometimes larger sometimes smaller, always fitting the current need of the wearer.

Ro is a design system that creates collectors.

To create long-term relationships with consumers is the fundament of the collection.

Therefore Ro offers a range of additionals and charms that can be bought with the

basic chain where everything is building up on.

The holistic approach of Ro is to explore new technologies, 3D printing for instance and ways of designing to

minimize pre- and post-consumer waste. All pieces are realized in a zero waste

processes out of biodegradable or recyclable materials.

The chains are made of brass galvanized with copper and the 3D printed charms are made of wood and corn (Lignin, a

by-product of the paper industry and WoodFill a filament made of wood and corn).

ABOUT ME

Hey, I´m Rahel a fashion designer born and raised in the north of Germany.

I hope you enjoy looking over my portfolio and gain a broad insight into my work as a designer.

You will see that I have a passion to combine art with good, precise handcraft and for this my communication medium and profession became fashion!

WHAT I'VE DONE
WHAT I DO
FUN IS DUTY

"Spaß ist Pflicht" or "Fun is Duty" is the name of my graduation collection I did for the fashion school JAK, Hamburg.

It is a DOB and HAKA collection dealing with hedonism in every aspect.

"Spaß ist Pflicht" is extroverted, gaudy, full of life but also well reflected.

The look combines sportive coolness and funky colours with couture-like avantgardism.

Hedonism has no ideology, no masterplan we just want to have fun, lust and freedom.

How we achieve all this? We don´t know. No one knows.

We just don´t want to take ourselves too serious, we want to have fun.

This spirit of hedonism I wanted to transfer into a collection .

Easygoing patterns and self-created paddings combined with big zippers  and bright colours.

"Stormy Clouds" is a unisex collection I developed while studying at the JAK Akademie for fashion in Hamburg.

It is a collection inspired by the maritime climate of the city where you are always fighting against wind and rain.

The concept of the project was to create a cosy cocoon with soft jersey garments inside and protecting, funktional jackets and materials on the outside.

It´s a clash of function and technical outerwear and the coolness of streetstyle.

FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME

Before I decided to do my Master in Sustainability in Fashion at the Esmod Berlin, graduating in October 2014,

I worked for small designers based in Hamburg as a design assistant and as a sales assistant in different shops.

I always enjoyed the combination of designing and retail to always have a finger on the pulse of time and simultaniously to stay well grounded and close to the consumer.

My hands and feet will never idle.

There is always something creative to do especially living in an inspiring city like Berlin.

Working in the field of fashion for a long time now every day equips you with a lot of ambition and motivation to new challenges and projects.

So my eyes are wide open for those who are searching for a passioned and focused designer, because fashion is more than just a job for me.

HELLO

I'M RAHEL

I LOVE MAKING VISIONS WEARABLE

AZURE

This small collection I created together with my colleague Tanja Wegener was developed while doing an upcycling workshop with the company Hess Natur.

We used their past collections to give them a new look and life and to bring them back into the cycle of fashion.

These sustainable and eco garments became transformed into a sophisticated look of high quality.

Soft organic silk combined with chunky knit and linen are following soft and graphic forms into a cool, underwater look

with the name AZURE.
